Asked Questions
| How do I get started? | Email us with your club details - we need your club name, and your contact details (name, address, telephone, email address). We will then send you a code which you use instead of your club name when you are uploading results to the Club pages. Tell us which scoring program you are using - if it is the ECats Program you will need a simple upgrade for it to work with the Club system. |
| How much does it cost ? | It is £50 for a year. That's it ! For that the only restriction is that you can't upload more than one session a day. But that still gives you up to 365 sessions if you want ! |
| How do I pay ? | You can send a cheque for £50 payable to ECats Ltd to: or you can go to our Credit card payment section (which uses Secure Server) - please click on the drop down that says what you are paying for and select ECatsBridge Club |
| What happens if we decide we don't want to continue? | If you find that you do not wish to continue using the service, or if we are for whatever reason unable to continue to provide the service, we will of course refund you any balance due. |
| What is the session number ? | This is always the year, so at the moment it is 2008. Each of the Simultaneous Pairs will continue to have different session numbers of course, but for the club pages you always use 2008 (or 2009 next year and so forth ..) |
| Can I link to my ECats Bridge Club pages from our club website | Indeed you can - when you click through to your club pages in the ECatsBridge Club area, just copy the URL from the top of the page and use that as the link. And don't forget to send us the URL for your club so that we can add it to our Links pages on the ECatsBridge site! |
| Can I link to my own club pages from the ECats Bridge Club pages? | As long as you are a member of the Club, you will have your own page for Club details and results, and you can link to your own pages from there. |
| Can we compare our results with those from other clubs ? | No, because you are playing different hands. |
| What happens if I make a mistake in the scores ? Do I have to pay for a second upload ? |
No don't worry - if you find you have made an error when scoring, simply re-upload with the same date and the system will simply overwrite the original results. Make sure you do it within a week or so, though! If it is more than two weeks then the system won't accept it. It is only uploads with different dates that are charged for. |
| How can I see my results? | Just click on the link to ECats Bridge Clubs on the menu at the left of this page and you will see the link to Club results for 2002 - now you can just click on the ones you are interested in and all the information will be there in the same way that it is for the local scores with a Simultaneous Pairs. |
| My club is the other side of the world- is that OK ? | Perfectly OK ! Clubs anywhere in the world are welcome to use our service. Time differences don't matter on Internet and our services if fully automated - as long as you can upload to us, your results will appear on the site within 5 - 10 minutes even if we are sleeping! |
| I don't have a sterling bank account - how can I pay ? | Email us for details of how we can arrange for payment to be made by credit card (using secure server). Please DO NOT email your credit card details to us. |
| I have uploaded but my results haven't appeared |
First of all, please check that you have the correct session number - at the moment it is 2008, and is always the year. If you are using the ECats Scoring Program, please check that you have upgraded to Ver 7.5 or later - the club system will not work with Ver 6.2 or any earlier version. You can download the upgrade from our download page, or email us if you would like it sent to you on a floppy disc. Next, please check that you have entered the date correctly in the program. It must be in the format dd/mm/yyyy and the date must be within the past 30 days. The system will not accept a date older than that, nor will it accept "tomorrow's date" whatever that may be. Then check that you have entered your club code correctly, remembering that it must be EXACTLY as it was sent to you, with the letters in lower case and no spaces anywhere. If you are sure that the session number and date are correct, and that you have at least Ver 7.5 of the ECats program or an up to date version of any other scoring software you may be using and your results still don't appear, please email us, sending the files (which will either be called c.txt, p.txt, r.txt and e.txt or will have a longer file name that ends c.txt etc.) and telling us what scoring program you are using and the operating system you use. |
| How long will my results stay on the ECatsBridge Club pages ? | They will stay on the system for at least a year, so that you can refer back to them at any time. |
| What other benefits does the ECats Bridge Club offer me ? | Well - at the moment we are still working on it! But there will be lots of exciting things (at least we hope you will find them exciting!) in the future. So watch this space ! But have a look at our Forums which are up and running and ready for you to use! |
| How much does it cost to set up a private discussion forum for my club ? | It is a free service to ECatsBridge Club members - all you have to do is to email us and we will set it up for your members with your own password. |
